One of my favorite wardrobe staples that works year-round is the coatigan.
What is a coatigan? It’s a hybrid between a coat and cardigan, which makes it perfect to wear both indoors and outside. They are typically a mid-weight knit that’s lighter than a coat but warm enough to wear on slightly chillier days.
Coatigans are a closet staple for all seasons, from colder summer mornings and evenings, to mild winter days. They are essential capsule wardrobe pieces for spring and fall transition outfits. Whether you’re running around town, headed to work, or dressing up for a night out, the coatigan can pull an outfit together.
Coatigans are also a staple in airport and travel outfits—they’re perfect for looking stylish and staying comfortable on long flights.
I’ve rounded up my favorite most chic (and cozy!) coatigans that come in a range of neutrals (including light beige, tan, camel, grays, and black), as well as a variety of knits and lengths (wool, cashmere, hip-length, long dusters and everything in between).
