Mental health is an incredibly important topic that has a critical role in our day to day lives, but one we are still not having enough open conversations about. And not only do I think we’re not talking about it, I believe we’re missing out on valuable insights from experts who can really educate us on it—because it’s way more nuanced than it seems.
One topic in particular that requires more conversation is therapy, and specifically how it can benefit us, both personally and professionally.
It might not be obvious (I know it wasn’t to me!), but therapy isn’t just for when you hit rock bottom—it’s actually a way to optimize your brain, which also helps you optimize your business, which is why I’m very excited for this week’s episode of Beyond Influential.
Optimizing Your Brain & Business Through Therapy with Dr. Jordan Hoffman
If you’ve ever experienced any of the common “mindset” issues that come up for entrepreneurs around worthiness, money mindset, imposter syndrome, perfectionism—you may have considered hiring a coach, but in reality, the best “hire” is actually a therapist.
One of the experts who has been educating me happens to be my own brother, Dr. Jordan Hoffman, who is a clinical psychologist with expertise on how therapy shapes the brain, and a specialization in improving the results people get from therapy.
He has experience working with individuals of all ages and all backgrounds, from NFL and NBA athletes to children and adolescents to working on Skid Row with the homeless population. I always walk away from our conversations with new insights, which is why I’m excited to have him on the show this week to share his knowledge and expertise with you.
On Ep. 146, we cover:
- Therapy: What it really is, and why and when you should consider it
- How to find the right therapist for you: Where to look, questions to ask, red flags to watch out for, and how to know if treatment is effective
- Types of therapy and different approaches to treatment
- The pros and cons of in-person vs. remote therapy
- Coaching vs. Therapy: What’s the difference and how to know which one you need
- Mental health resources, book recommendations, and more!
